Questions

Frequently asked questions

I answer myself — Serghei Fortuna. Short and honest: how I work, what it costs and what happens to your data.

Your situation

The studio wants a prepayment — what should I check in the contract?

The percentage matters less than what you get for each payment and when the site, code and access become yours. I check the contract before you pay: 2 working days, from €150. Details — “I'm ordering a website” in the Services menu.

They ask me to sign the acceptance act, but I'm not sure — what now?

Don't sign blindly: you can sign the act with a list of remarks. I check the site before you sign: 5 working days, from €450; urgent in 48 hours — +50%. Details — “My site is being handed over” in the Services menu.

Inquiries don't arrive, and the studio says “that's extra work”

Whether it's a bug or extra work is decided by the contract and the brief, not by the studio's words. I find the warranty period in the contract, check each point and draft a letter to the studio. 5 working days, from €250.

The developer vanished with the passwords — can I get the site back?

Often yes, without rebuilding. First I check whose name the site address is registered in and when it must be renewed. Got a “renew your domain” email? Don't pay via its link until we check. 5 working days, from €250.

Ads are running but the phone is quiet — where do I start?

You can start with the free auto check: in a minute it shows some of the technical errors. To find where customers drop off on the way to an inquiry, you need a full check: 7–10 working days, from €600.

What do you do when you watch over the whole project?

Up to 5 hours a week: I read the brief, check the mockups and every version of the site, attend meetings, watch deadlines and extra charges. You get a report once a week. From €900 a month; can cover only part of the project.

Working with me

How are you different from a studio?

I don't build websites to order. The studio builds the site, and I am on your side: I read the contract, watch deadlines and budget, and check the work before you accept it. Like a building inspector, but for your website.

Who pays you? Do you have deals with studios?

Only you pay me. I take no commissions, percentages or orders from the studios I check. So I have no reason to praise or criticise a studio — I show things as they are, with evidence.

Why you, if I have a programmer friend or ChatGPT?

A friend usually checks selectively; ChatGPT doesn't know your project and won't come to the meeting. I check against a list, back every finding with a screenshot and take responsibility for the conclusion.

I know nothing about websites — will I understand?

You don't need to. I speak the developers' language with them and yours with you: what happened, what it risks and what to decide.

Why should I trust you? Where are the reviews?

This line of work is new, so there are no reviews here yet: I publish client stories only with their written consent. Before paying, you can discuss your situation for free on a 20-minute call and run the auto check on your site.

What do you guarantee? What if you miss something?

That you'll know the risks before signing the contract and the act, and every finding will come with evidence. My report says what I checked and what I didn't. If my work lacks what I promised in writing, I'll finish it for free. I can't vouch for the studio or for more inquiries.

Do you work remotely? I'm in another country

Yes: the site check, the contract review and studio meetings are all online. Laws differ by country, so I mark legal points for a lawyer in your country.

What languages do you work in?

I speak and write reports in Russian. I read contracts, briefs and the site itself in Russian, Romanian and English.

Are you a lawyer?

No. I read the contract as an engineer: what is handed over, how the work is accepted, the warranty. Legal points I mark separately — you can show just those to a lawyer, not the whole contract.

When don't you need me?

If you need the website itself — I am not a studio. If you need guaranteed sales, ad setup or social media. If you are in court with the studio — a lawyer first. I will say so honestly on the first call.

Getting started and prices

When is the best time to bring you in?

The earlier, the more can change. Before the contract — almost everything, before signing the act — a lot, after it — mostly what the warranty covers. You can bring me in at any stage.

My site is simple — do I need you?

For a business-card or one-page site, a contract review (from €150) or one check before signing the act is usually enough. Watching over the whole project makes sense when it's large and long.

What happens after I send a request?

I'll write within a working day and suggest a time for a 20-minute call. Then, in writing: what I'll do, by when and how much it costs. I start only once you agree.

A free call — what's the catch?

There's no catch. In 20 minutes I'll tell you where the risk is and whether you need me at all — sometimes the answer is “you don't”. I won't call or write afterwards unless you ask.

How much of my time will it take?

A 20-minute call and answers to my questions along the way. Only what needs your decision reaches you. If I watch over the whole project — a short report once a week.

Can I figure it out myself first?

Yes. Checklists for every situation and the website auto check are free, with no calls. If questions remain, the call is free too.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

Contract review — from €150, 2 days. Warranty check or getting access back — from €250, 5 days. Check before the act — from €450, 5 days. Finding where inquiries are lost — from €600, 7–10 days. The whole project — from €900 a month. All prices — on the Prices page.

Why “from”? Can the price go up?

“From” is the typical-case price: for the check before the act and finding lost inquiries, a site of up to 30 pages. I name the exact sum in writing before starting, and it doesn't grow: if the work takes longer, that's my risk. A new sum only if you expand the task yourself.

Do you work under a contract? How do I pay?

Yes. Before starting I send in writing the work, timeline, amount and what's not included. Payment: 50% before the start, 50% once we've gone through the result. Company invoice is fine. Prices in euros, lei at the day's rate. From abroad, we'll pick a method on the call. Terms: the Prices page.

Studio and contract

Won't the studio be offended?

I don't look for someone to blame; I talk about points, not people. For a good studio an independent check is even convenient: fewer disputes later.

The studio tests its own work — why do I need you?

The studio checks its own work, and that's right. I check as your customer would and compare it with the contract, and only you pay me. Like an independent building inspector.

The studio misses deadlines — what will you do?

If I run the project, I'll notice before you: every week I compare what was promised with what was done. I'll tell you what's urgent, what to decide and which contract terms on deadlines are on your side. I can't force the studio — the decision is yours.

Do you need access to the site? What if the studio refuses?

For most checks — no: I look at what your customer sees. Access to the admin panel or payments only with your consent, through a separate test login. If the studio refuses, I'll tell you what can be checked without it.

The studio refuses to fix things — what then?

The contract and the brief decide, not what either side says. I'll show which terms are on your side and draft a calm letter to the studio. If it comes to a dispute, a lawyer takes over: my report isn't a court expert opinion, but its evidence will help.

Can I send your report to the studio?

Yes. I write it in a neutral tone: points, evidence and what to fix, without judging people. It makes agreeing on fixes easier.

Will you attend meetings with the studio?

Yes, online. The check before the act includes one meeting; when I watch over the whole project — as many as needed within 5 hours a week. I talk to developers in their language and then tell you briefly what was decided.

Who fixes what you find?

You decide: the studio, another developer or yourself. The report is the same whoever fixes it. If you ask, I can fix things myself on a live site — with a separate quote, after the report.

Who will you show my contract to? Will you sign an NDA?

No one. I need the contract and documents only for the work. If you like, I'll sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before you send them. I don't name your site, project or studio publicly — only with your written consent and anonymised.

The act is already signed — too late?

No. While the warranty runs, I check what you can ask to have fixed for free.

Auto check

What is the auto check and how is it different from yours?

It's a free quick look by my system at the site's public pages. It finds some of the technical errors. The contract, inquiries, payments and your customer's path to a purchase I check only myself — those are paid services.

Is it free? What's the catch?

Free and without sign-up: enter the site address and the result appears on screen. No catch: it shows how my system works. An email is needed only if you want to save the report; I won't call.

How long does it take and what does it check?

Usually about a minute, longer for a slow site. The first check looks at the home page on desktop and mobile, the links from it, the sitemap and the service files for search engines.

Will it check every page?

No. The first check covers the home page and its links. If you save the site, a repeat check looks at up to 30 pages and marks what it didn't reach as “not checked”. The whole site and the path to an inquiry I check myself — that's a paid check.

What will the report show and how far can I trust it?

The main findings, each with evidence (a screenshot or page address) and a label: “Fact” — proven, “Hypothesis” — needs checking, “Question” — not enough data. Separately — what works and what wasn't checked.

What can't the auto check see?

Closed sections, the admin panel and payments. It doesn't submit forms or leave inquiries. It doesn't read the contract and doesn't know what the studio promised you — only a person sees that.

Can it break something? Do you need a password?

No and no. The system only reads public pages, like an ordinary visitor: it changes and submits nothing. No password or access needed.

The check didn't finish or the link doesn't open

It means the site didn't respond in time, or an unsaved report was deleted after 24 hours. Run the check again — old results are never substituted.

How do I save the report and find it later?

Leave your email under the report — you'll get a login link and a PDF. Saved reports for all your sites are in “My reports”.

Why check again?

After fixes. A repeat check compares with the previous report and shows what's fixed, what's left and what's new.

Your data

What data do you collect during a check?

The site address, text and screenshots of public pages as evidence, technical data about the check and your IP address in hashed form. If you save the report — also your email. I don't collect the site's private data.

How long is the report kept?

Unsaved — 24 hours, then it's deleted automatically. Saved — until you delete it. An account unused for 24 months is deleted, with an email warning 30 days before.

How do I delete the report and data?

A report can be deleted at any time, immediately — see the “Data deletion” page. Accounts and correspondence I delete on request to hello@klarense.com within 30 days.

What remains after deletion?

Only anonymised statistics: check number, problem type, result and time — without the site address or name. Backups are deleted automatically within 35 days.

Why do you need my email and how many emails will I get?

Only to send the report link and PDF. I write in response to your actions and once — before deleting an inactive account. No newsletters.

Who can see my report?

Only someone with the link. It's hard to guess, and search engines can't see it. I don't show your site to others without written consent.

Do you use cookies and analytics?

On my own site — yes. Google Analytics starts only after you consent in the banner, and the checked site's address isn't sent there. Decline — and analytics won't run. I don't set cookies on the site being checked.

Who do you share data with? Do you sell it?

I sell it to no one. Data is processed only by services the site can't run without: email — Resend, server — Hetzner, backups — Backblaze, login and analytics — Google. Some of it may be processed in the USA.

Can I check a site the studio built, or someone else's?

The auto check looks only at what's open to any visitor: it changes nothing and submits no forms. Closed sections and anything that could load the site — only with the owner's written permission.

Where are the data rules and who do I write to?

The privacy policy, cookies, terms and data deletion are linked at the bottom of every page. Data questions — hello@klarense.com.
